FAQs: Laser Skin Rejuvenation in Marin County at Belle Marin Aesthetic Medicine
Halo and BBL stimulate your skin in unique but highly complementary ways. Halo is a fractional laser skin resurfacing treatment, which means it “damages” a fraction of your skin to prompt the growth of healthy, new skin. BBL photofacial, on the other hand, is a non-invasive light treatment that penetrates your skin without breaking its surface to improve stubborn pigmentation irregularities, such as age spots, sun spots, freckles, small veins, redness, rosacea and more. Combining Halo and BBL renews your skin in multiple ways, prompting vibrant, new skin growth and reversing stubborn pigmentation irregularities for brighter, smoother, more-evenly toned skin with smaller pores, diminished wrinkles and so much more!
You will relax while we apply a topical numbing cream to your face before your treatment. The numbing cream is for the Halo portion of your treatment, as BBL photofacials can be performed without numbing cream. We will then perform BBL to your desired areas before administering your Halo treatment, slowly working our way around your treatment zones to stimulate your skin’s natural healing response. Once your Halo and BBL combination treatment is done, you will be able to return home.
Laser skin rejuvenation can treat any area of the body, though these skin treatments are most commonly used for the face, neck and chest. BBL photofacials are also terrific for reducing small veins and broken capillaries on the legs.
A fractional laser treats a fraction of your tissue rather than the entire surface, which speeds healing time without sacrificing any of the skin-renewing benefits. Halo is also the world’s first hybrid laser, meaning it treats skin with two types of laser energy — ablative and non-ablative. Halo’s ablative laser vaporizes, or removes, skin to stimulate your skin’s natural healing response and grow new skin. Halo’s non-ablative laser stimulates your dermis without removing any skin for revitalization at multiple levels and maximum benefits.
Halo and BBL are all well-tolerated treatments. BBL has been compared to the sensation of a rubber band snapping against the skin, but this discomfort subsides quickly, as soon as the light stops penetrating your skin. Immediately following Halo, depending on the intensity of your treatment, you may experience an intense sunburn sensation, which lasts for about one hour. This discomfort will soon subside after the first hour, and you will feel increasingly more comfortable as your skin calms down and starts its renewal process in the hours following your treatment.
Yes, depending on the intensity of your treatment, you may experience a day to a week of social downtime. Keep in mind that you’ll still be able to go about your usual activities, regardless of treatment intensity. Milder treatments may incur a day or two of social downtime, whereas medium to intense laser treatments may involve about a week of social downtime.
You’ll be able to go about your usual business soon after your Halo treatment, though your skin may be red and slightly swollen for a few days if you’ve undergone an intense treatment. Any redness will soon fade before turning brown and forming a crusty patina. This patina is the mark of new skin growth, and eventually sloughs off within a week to reveal your radiant, intensely revitalized complexion.
This non-invasive light treatment penetrates your skin without breaking the surface, triggering a healing response within that reveals brighter, more-evenly toned skin. BBL photofacials are the gold standard for improving pesky pigmentation irregularities like sun spots, age spots, redness, broken capillaries and much more.
There is little to no downtime with BBL photofacials. You should be able to resume your regular day, including the reapplication of makeup, if desired, immediately following your treatment.
You may look slightly red or feel a slight sunburn sensation immediately afterward, but many patients experience no side effects with BBL photofacials.
Your treatment cost will depend on the areas you are treating, and whether your Halo will be combined with a BBL photofacial. We will review your specific goals and devise the perfect treatment regimen, including cost, that meets your needs during your personal consultation.
Your treatment cost will depend on several factors, including the number and size of the areas you are treating. For your best results, we often perform a series of BBL photofacials. We will work together to formulate the ideal treatment plan for your unique needs.
